Gallery Guidelines for Exhibiting Artists

Submit only new and original work (copies of other artists' work, and previously shown work will not be accepted).

You must register during the registration period in order to exhibit your work in these shows, so please register early!  If you are a new member, remember that you must have been a member for at least 30 days prior to the exhibit start date in order to be able to participate in that exhibit. Exhibiting artists are expected to work two sittings in the gallery. This ensures the gallery will be fully staffed during our exhibit.  If anyone has further questions and/or concerns about exhibiting, registering, or booking sittings, please contact the coordinator.

The Exhibits Committee reserves the right to remove any artwork that does not meet standards. The committee decisions are final. It is responsible for meeting all requirements and standards for each exhibition. Prices will not change without informing the artist first.

Paintings must be appropriately presented and neatly installed into the frame. Watercolours & pastels must be framed under glass and include a paper dust cover placed securely on the back. Acrylics and oils are to be framed without glass. The importance of proper framing cannot be over-emphasized. Gallery canvasses are acceptable only if the edges are free from staples.

Craig Gallery:  We are limited to 72 paintings per show at the Craig Gallery.  Paintings for each artist are limited to one large or two small/medium works.  Small to medium paintings will include all images (unframed measurement) no greater than 16 x 20 inches in size.  No painting may be larger than 28 x 36 inches framed. Larger works must first be cleared with the Exhibition Committee. With advanced notice, every effort will be made to accommodate special requests if space and format permits. Hanging fee is $5.00 per painting.

Art work must not be removed by the artist before the end of the exhibition unless mitigating circumstances prevail.  Artists should notify the coordinator to confirm arrangements. The People’s Choice Award painting must be left until the end of the show, even if sold.

More information and documentation regarding exhibition requirements, practices and polcies can be found on the For DVAS Members page.
